Beyond the break you'll find the first two official stills for Rogue Pictures' The Last House on the Left remake, which is still looking for a release date from Rogue Pictures. In the film John and Emma Collingwood are on vacation at their lakeshore house when, by a bizarre twist of fate, they give shelter to the sociopaths who have just assaulted and nearly killed their daughter. Upon discovering the truth, they exact a chilling revenge on her attackers...
take note:
"oh man...i love last house on the left!!"
"yeah me too..my grandmother and i saw it in the theaters last year..."
"no not that piece of shit...the real one!!! we're no longer friends!"
this is going to happen to a lot of us..
mikeyraw.. if you think its so easy to make an original horror flick then go fucking write one! practically everything in the horror genra has been done!
i'd rather have a rip off than a remake...
from the things i've read about this they've changed quite a bit...they could have easily gone a bit further with that and just called it something else...
mathu6xortem, i totally hear what you're saying, but if they did that, then people would be complaining that it's just a rip off. there's really no way to please everyone i guess. but i DO understand where you're coming from.
What is wrong with remakes? If it's done well, then I have no issue with a remake. Afterall, a remake does nothing to harm the original film. And if it's a film with sequels and you're upset that there won't be anymore, well, then that's something to get a little upset about, but otherwise, just get over it. It's only a movie.
I like the way people complain that they have remade Wes Cravens last House on the left when that movie was a remake of the 1960's movie Jungfrukällan by Ingmar Bergman!
Remakes are never better then the original, but thats why they are remakes because the cake it came from was so great. The day the Earth stood still will be a great remake and that might actually be better because of COLOR and F/X. But I say keep them coming Hollywood. Screw your stupid Love with a touch of comedy movies and give us a scare.
I have a bad feeling about this. If they're going to make it R — why make it light? WE WANT IT GRAPHIC! Reducing the crimes against the girls will also lessen feelings of tension and sympathy and will not generate the same reactions like the brutal and raw original brought out. When will big-budget filmmakers and studios realize this?!? GOD DAMN!
jmacgrath, your phrase. "What is wrong with remakes? If it's done well, then I have no issue with a remake." is a grand dream that's ill fated. The fact of the matter is, NO, remakes AREN'T bad, but a good remake is like finding a diamond in the center of a mountain of pebbles. It's rarer now than it was, ten or twenty years ago. The reason why is, as the years gone by, commercialism as at an all-time high, and when that happens, artistic dedication is lost to the mindset of "making a quick buck". When that happens, people don't take their job seriously, and only do what they have to to complete a mediocre movie. Now, the mindset of "making a quick buck" has always been around, but there always has also been dedicated artistry associated to movies(all movies, even horror). Now, let's talk about ripoffs. Ripoffs are like remakes, they can be done right in the RIGHT HANDS, but most of the time you get them in the WRONG HANDS. The 80s slasher ripoffs, a lot of them, were done good. A lot of the writers, though riping off the common theme that, mostly, borrowed from Carpenter's Halloween(some from Hooper's TCM), everybody put their own spin on it, be it more realistic or more supernatural. The 90s did to ripoffs what the 2000s did to remakes.
How many different ways was Hamlet done? or Romeo and Juliet? Or Dracula... People put their own spins on classic tales. It's allowed. It's fun and yes, it can be creative. Why not watch the movie and, if it sucks, warn people and desimate it with criticism. If nothing else this is a way to get a new generation into our old favorites. My first vision of Nosferatu was Klaus Kinski playing him in the 70's. Then I went back and learned my history lesson. If you want original, try looking in the Indy circuit... just see what original ideas can do to perfectly good genres. It's not all rainbows and kittens (unless they're getting put on spikes that is).
Another Jaws would be nice. Like Jaws takes New York. There could be a Drug Dealer near the water and BAM stabbing the shark with his needles only makes him more angry so he then attacks the Family of the drug dealer when then go on vacation in the artic. lmao
If it aint Twilight, I am there. A remake of a real horror movie is better then little bitches "sparkling" in the sunlight. What a crock. For real i could bitch about Twilight til the end of time.
Well mikeyraw, When they make something original, People like you bitch and complain about how it sucked. Thats why they make remakes of classic horror movies. They figure that fans of the old will enjoy the new. I love remakes. Bring them all on bitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't wait for this remake. F13 and Bloody Valentine remakes as well. I could give a blue fuck if a movie is a remake. If I loved the original than chances are the remake will be decent. If people are so sick of them, you have the option not to support it. I'm happy we get some of the classics back, that's all.
Normally I would be slamming this remake like I did with tht Prom Night remake. However, I read on this site also that a studio is planning on remaking Oldboy with Will Smith as the lead. That takes the cake for the "you've got to be fucking kidding me" category. Remaking Last House actually seems like a good idea compared to that.
I'm not a huge fan of the remakes, although it shows you how much the originals are appreciated. When shoddy ones are done it only makes me appreciate the original that much more. The only exception was Halloween, which no remake could make me love that movie any more than I already do. It's at the top of my list.
Honestly it isn't impossible to make a good remake. It's been done (The Thing, The Fly, The Blob, etc) It's just that most of them aren't. It feels like Hollywood is pillaging every classic and good foreign that they can, slapping PG-13 on it so the kiddies can see it in theatres, and releasing them by the tons. They need to realize that originality is NOT dead. The french have proved it with movies such as Inside and up and coming Martyrs. It seems like most of the movies that I've seen that came from this year either came out straight on dvd or from somewhere outside of North America. At this rate, this trend may just increase!
I've gotten over the whole "I hate remakes" deal. After seeing how well Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hills Have Eyes ans Dawn of the Dead turned out -- and being one of the loudest belly achers beforehand -- I am willing to reserve judgment on a case by case basis after seeing the finished product. Besides that, it's best to just go into the whole thing thinking that the original is one thing and the remake is something different altogether. Makes everything easier to digest that way.
"LAKE ENDS IN THE ROAD" is really annoying me now. This looks really bad. And something about that girl's face means I don't care about anything that's happened to her. She looks like she deserved it.
well the people who actually have seen this said it is pretty awesome so i'm thinking, stfu you whiners and just wait until it is released. blah blah blah, bitch bitch bitch
